'Morning for Hope' fundraiser aims to help abused women

TORONTO – Rogers Media and the Canadian Women’s Foundation partnered up for “Morning for Hope,” Wednesday — a fundraiser aimed at breaking the cycle of violence against women.

The second annual telethon was aired on City’s “Breakfast Television” and 98.1 CHFI, as well as other Rogers Media properties across Canada, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Money raised will go to Canadian Women’s Foundation, to fund shelters and other support services for victims of abuse and violence.

The event raised $450,078 in support of the foundation. In 2012, more than $430,000 was raised across Canada.
