Majority of Ontarians don’t want an election: poll

TORONTO – A new poll reveals a majority of Ontarians don’t want another election, while nearly half of those polled want the NDP to support the Liberal budget government’s budget.

A new Forum Research poll, published in the Toronto Star, revealed 53 per cent of those polled don’t want to see an election again. Also, 48 per cent want the NDP to support the budget.

Interview: Forum president Loren Bozinoff discusses the results with 680News. Listen to the interview below.

PC Leader Tim Hudak has not been hiding how feels about keeping the Liberals in power.

“Ontario needs a new course; enough is enough. We need a government that’s focused on creating jobs in our province and spending within its means, and showing respect for every tax dollar that’s spent,” Hudak said.

Premier Kathleen Wynne said she’s not afraid to campaign on her first budget, if the opposition parties combine to defeat it and trigger an election.

The New Democrats have said they won’t support the budget unless there are some changes.

Wynne said the budget was not meant to be the starting point of negotiations with the NDP, since the party virtually everything they asked for.

Meanwhile, a senior PC source told the Toronto Sun the party will introduce a new motion that would require the Liberals and NDP to explain in the house any reasons for refusing a non-confidence vote.
