Boy, 15, injured in drive-by shooting near Allen and Lawrence

TORONTO, Ont. – A 15-year-old boy is recovering in hospital following a drive-by shooting near Allen Road and Lawrence Avenue West, Wednesday night.

Toronto police said the victim, his brother and two friends were standing in a Varna Drive walkway when a vehicle with multiple occupants drove by and fired multiple shots at around 7:40 p.m.

The victim’s brother and two friends were not injured.

Police said there is no indication that the victim knew the suspect. Police also said there is no indication the victim or the other teenagers are known to police.

It is possible that the incident is a case of mistaken identity, police said.

The teenager sustained two gunshot wounds to the lower back. He is expected to survive.

Police are looking for multiple suspects who fired shots from a newer, silver or white Toyota Camry. Police are also looking for a second vehicle described as a dark-coloured Mazda or Nissan.

Police said there were multiple witnesses in the area.
