Oprah says she didn’t expect Armstrong doping confession in interview

Oprah Winfrey has opened up about her yet-to-air interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.

In an appearance on “CBS This Morning,” Winfrey said she had no idea Armstrong was going to confess to using performance-enhancing drugs.

She said the interview, which lasted over two-and-a-half hours — will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) over two nights, Thursday and Friday, because she didn’t want to cut it down.

Winfrey also said she personally carried her Armstrong interview with her back to her studio, Harpo Productions.

“I didn’t want to satellite the tapes — didn’t trust putting it up on the bird — so I hand-carried them in my bag, along with my dog food and dog leashes,” Winfrey said.

Winfrey also said this is the biggest interview she’s ever done in terms of exposure.

So what is she willing to say about Armstrong’s demeanour during the interview?

“I felt that he was thoughtful, I thought that he was serious, I thought that he certainly had prepared himself for this moment,” Winfrey said.

Oprah said Armstrong was pretty forthcoming and answered the questions that people around the world wanted to hear.
