Ontario Liberal leadership debate to be held in Ajax Sunday

Health care and transit in the Durham Region are likely to be major topics as as the Ontario Liberal leadership debate moves to Ajax Sunday.

Also on the docket will be Bill 115, of course, and the decision to impose contracts on nearly 126,000 teachers and education workers in the province.

Those issues are expected to saddle the next premier, and people in Ajax will likely be eager to hear what the candidates have to say.

The government may repeal the controversial law that gave them the power to force collective agreements on the teachers, however it’s not known if that will be done before the new leader is chosen.

Only one of the leadership candidates, former provincial education minister Gerard Kennedy, has promised to kill Bill 155.

The leadership convention is set to take place in Toronto on January 26.
