OSHAWA, Ont. – Amnesty for parking fines is being offered to Oshawa drivers to bring holiday cheer to a child.
Oshawa drivers who get parking tickets from Dec. 1-14 will have the option of contributing to the annual Durham Regional Police toy and food drive. The offer is not for anyone illegally parking in an accessible space or for unauthorized parking, according to a statement.
Drivers can donate a new unwrapped toy with a receipt to show the gift is worth or exceeds the value of the parking ticket.
“The Toys for Tickets program is a great way to give back and assist families in need in our community,” city officials said in a statement.
Toys can be dropped off at Service Oshawa, inside the city hall at 50 Centre St. S. on Dec. 13-14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
