Teenager killed after being struck by vehicle while riding bike in Innisfil

South Simcoe Police are investigating after a teenager who was riding his bike in Innisfil was struck by a vehicle and killed.

It happened at around 1:35 a.m. Sunday, when three teens were riding their bicycles eastbound on Innisfil Beach Road.

“There was a motor vehicle that was travelling eastbound at the same time, that did not see the teens on the bicycles,” said Sgt. Reynolds with the South Simcoe Police.

“The motor vehicle struck two of the bicyclists, one of the teens that was struck was transported to hospital in Barrie and was pronounced deceased.”

The second teen who was struck suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma centre here in Toronto.

The third teen was not struck by the vehicle, and as such, was not injured in the incident.

Innisfil Beach Road was closed between 10th Sideroad and County Road 4 for an investigation.

The deceased teen was 17-years-old while the second injured teen is 16-years-old, their names have not been released at this point.
