Ottawa teen sings about anti-bullying in YouTube video

OTTAWA, Ont. – A teen girl from Ottawa, Ont., has taken to YouTube with her song, “Stronger,” which has an anti-bullying message.

The video by Megan Landry, 16, closely follows the anniversary of Jamie Hubley’s death and the recent loss of Amanda Todd, 15, in British Columbia. Both took their own lives after enduring years of bullying at school.

Landry says she went through several years of bullying at school and in an attempt to help others going through the same situation, she wrote an empowering song.

The video shows Megan playing keyboard on a cold winter night surrounded by candles and Christmas lights. A teen girl is seen being shoved against a school locker and is then seen walking away. The video ends with Landry holding up a sheet of paper with the word stronger.

The song which speaks about being stronger, standing prouder, and yelling louder,  explains how she was able to overcome bullying.

However, Landry told the Ottawa Citizen, she doesn’t want to be known as the voice of anti-bullying.  She just wants to write music.

As of Monday morning, the song had received more than 78,00 hits on YouTube.
