Survey finds few Canadian women would seek love on reality TV

Twenty-five bachelorettes will vie for the final rose gifted by football player Brad Smith on The Bachelor Canada.

But according to a survey conducted by Match.com, less than 10 per cent of Canadian women would appear in a reality TV show for love.

About 45 per cent of single Canadians surveyed said a first date on national television would be intimidating.

According to the survey, 50 per cent of Canadians know a date is not going well within 15 minutes.

Kimberly Moffit, a psychotherapist and Match.com relationship insider said the footballer and Canada’s bachelor Smith may be disadvantaged by his profession.

“We all know that bachelor Brad is a football player but only about seven per cent of Canadian women think that being an athlete is a good and attractive profession,” she said.

The survey also found that 76 per cent of Canadians believe in soul mates.

“This is something that’s really echoed in my private practice,” Moffit said.

“Everybody is looking to find their equal part.”

Among its other findings, the survey found that most single Canadian men prefer blonde-haired women while single women prefer brown haired men.

The Bachelor Canada
will premiere on Citytv on Oct. 3 at 9 p.m.
