Mayor to hold annual Ford fest at his mother’s house, Sept. 7

TORONTO, Ont. – Mayor Rob Ford is hosting his annual Ford Fest Barbecue on September 7, and expects a crowd of 5,000 people will show up for hamburgers and hot dogs. However, not everyone will be there for the food.

The crowd will be joined by thousands more who have been invited to a backyard pride parade, an event created by members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community who wish to chat with the Mayor about a variety of issues.

The Toronto Star reports the community has created a Facebook event and have invited more than 3,500 people to Ford’s event.

Ford has not attended the Pride Parade since he became mayor, saying he spends Canada Day weekend at his cottage.
