WestJet announces new premium economy seating

WestJet Airlines Ltd. is offering a new way for passengers to stretch their legs but it is not going to help you stretch your dollar.

Ever since it’s creation in 1996, WestJet has offered only one class of service on its airplanes. However in recent years the airline has expanded across the country and now competes with Air Canada on many business class routes.

WestJet announced Wednesday that they are creating a new class, not only for business travellers but for those looking for an extra bit of leg room.

The airline will set aside four rows at the front of its planes, which will feature bigger seats with a 36-inch pitch. The service will also Feature perks such as priority boarding and other in-flight amenities.

The company did not announce how much extra passengers would have to pay for these premium seats.

WestJet also announced that they will be offering a new regional service next year with 20 new Q400 turboprop planes that they have ordered from Bombardier.
