OTTAWA – An arbitrator is now in place in the dispute between Air Canada and its pilots.

Labour  Minister Lisa Raitt has appointed Douglas Stanley to deal with both sides and resolve this labour dispute.

Stanley has been practicing law since 1974 and has also taught law at the University of New Brunswick.

Both the airline and the pilots association suggested

Stanley was suggested as a good arbitrator for this matter by both the airline and the pilots association.

The pilots nearly went on strike before the government introduced back to work legislation. since then they have taken part in so-called sick-ins, delaying and cancelling dozens of flights.
