60 drivers cautioned for traffic offences on day 1 of Toronto police campaign

TORONTO, Ont. – Day one of a police crackdown on drivers on Danforth Avenue who don’t yield to pedestrians produced some surprising results.

Sixty drivers were pulled over near Coxwell and Danforth avenues in “Intersection Look Out” and cautioned in the first six hours of the blitz.

Six tickets were written to motorists who didn’t give way to people trying to walk across the street.

“Intersection Look Out” was launched on Thursday, and is taking place between Victoria Park and Broadview avenues.

Officers from 54 and 55 Divisions, along with the mounted unit, are watching for drivers not obeying proper stopping laws, or failing to yield to pedestrians and cyclists.
