One of the wooden buildings ablaze at the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground in High Park. Police believe arson may be behind the fire.

TORONTO, Ont. – A young man has been arrested in connection with a blaze that ruined a beloved playground in High Park.

The Jamie Bell Adventure Playground, a wooden playground in High Park, was set ablaze overnight on March 17.

When officials arrived they found the structure destroyed.

Christian Kupiecki, 19, of Toronto, is charged with arson and attempt to obstruct justice.

The playground, built in 1999, was named after a community activist named Jamie Bell who first had the idea to build it.

In a show of unity, the community has come together and is collecting donations to rebuild the park.
