Calls for Leafs coach firing get louder

TORONTO, Ont. – Fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are crying for a win, but can anyone hear?

After six losses in a row, frustrated fans are increasing the calls for coach Ron Wilson to be fired.

Fans are getting more bitter by the minute as the Leafs playoff hopes continue to sour.

Wilson said he has a simple strategy to deal with the increasing calls from fans for his firing: “I don’t listen.” He said this is not the kind of pressure he lets get to him.

“Pressure is when you’re fighting for your life and you got cancer or something like that,” Wilson said.

On Sportsnet Radio FAN 590, there was some sympathy from the “Brady and Lang Show.”

“I’ll be honest with you, I feel bad — I have sympathy for Ron Wilson. I couldn’t help but think the other night, when he’s being booed and this chant from 19,000 people is ‘fire Wilson’ … this guy has got a family to go home to, he’s a grandfather. I mean, it’s tough,” Greg Brady said.

The Leafs are next in action Saturday in Montreal against the Habs.
