Rally planned Saturday in an effort to keep Ontario Place open

TORONTO, Ont. – A rally is planned Saturday to try to persuade the government to keep Ontario Place open.

The rally to “Save Ontario Place” is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Ontario Place (main entrance at 955 Lake Shore Blvd. W.).

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) said the government recently spent $10-million in upgrades, and Ontario Place was turning the corner when the government decided to shut it down for five years for redevelopment.

The union said if it stays open during the revitalization, 70 full-time jobs and 600 students’ jobs would be saved.
