Group of business owners considering lawsuit against Finch LRT

A possible lawsuit from the Emery Village Business improvement area over the proposed LRT along Finch is getting the support of at least one city councillor.

The province’s transportation minister warned last week that Toronto’s transit expansion should not be delayed any further, but it could happen if the lawsuit is filed.

“The majority of the board may be looking at potential litigation and having the province come to the courts as well as Metrolinx to explain why there hasn’t been any consultation with the largest business corridor in the country,” Councillor Georgio Mammoliti said.

The BIA prefers a subway to light rail because it says the LRT would disrupt truck traffic.

Its board is expected to hold a meeting tomorrow to get advice on whether legal action is possible.
