Riot suspects wanted after beating Good Samaritan

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A man who was beaten during the Stanley Cup riot last June is asking for your help. Robert MacKay wants everyone to watch video footage of the assault to help Vancouver Police identify the mob that attacked him.

MacKay was jumped and pepper-sprayed after trying to stop others from breaking the windows at The Bay.

“I threw all caution to the side and jumped in,” he said. “I completely reacted.”

Police have announced charges against three men accused of attacking MacKay, while asking for help in identifying another six suspects.

“That night many of you saw acts of bravery and courage by Good Samaritans,” said VPD Inspector Les Yeo. “Robert MacKay was one of those people.”

“Now facing charges are Tanner Bedow, a 25-year-old resident of Surrey: participating in a riot, break and enter, and assault; Armando Garcia, 19-year-old resident from Surrey: participating in a riot and assault; Brandon Wise: participating in a riot and assault.”

Charges of participating in a riot and break and enter were also announced against a 17-year-old from Langley, while 18-year-old Eric Hodson from Surrey has been charged with participating in a riot and mischief.

That brings the total to 11 charges against five new suspects. A total of 116 charges have now been approved against 43 people.

Police have also released another 250 riot photos on their newly redesigned 2011 riot website.
