SIU called after man suffers gunshot wound in Richmond Hill

TORONTO, Ont. – The Special Investigations Unit has been called after a man suffered a gunshot wound in the Major Mackenzie Drive and Bayview Avenue area in Richmond Hill.

It’s believed police responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning on Palmer Avenue.

There are reports a man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound, potentially to the head, although it is not known how the wound was sustained.

The province’s police watchdog is now investigating, although it is unknown what role police may have played in the incident.

The SIU is called whenever someone suffers serious injuries or dies during a police call.
