Councillor suggests higher parking fees for 905 vs. 416 commuters

It’s an idea which will make commuters living outside the city red with anger – making 905 residents pay more to park in the 416 area than Toronto residents.
Councillor Ana Bailao, who sits on the Toronto Parking Authority, says it could help to pay for transit and infrastructure, but worries that charging out-of-towners more could drive away jobs.
According to The Toronto Star, the idea is being floated by council in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Toronto Councillor and vice-chair of Public Works and Infrastructure Committee David Shiner favours tolls for out-of-towners, saying Toronto drivers could get a transponder for free.
