Coun. Doug Ford ditches his free city parking pass

TORONTO, Ont. – Coun. Doug Ford is leading by example.

The Toronto Sun is reporting Mayor Ford’s brother has cut up his 2012 parking pass that would have allowed him to park for free in any “Green P” parking lot across the city.

Ford is now trying to get his fellow councillors to refuse the free parking perk, which city councillors have enjoyed for around the last 10 years.

Some councillors have argued that the free parking is not actually a perk, but a board policy designed to help councillors use city facilities and meet with their constituents on city business.

Ford insisted that this policy is the “gravy train” kind of policy Mayor Ford campaigned against.
