Transactions for GTA realtors increase by 11 per cent

TORONTO – So far it has been a busy December for the Greater Toronto Area realtors.

The realtors said transactions are up by 11 per cent in the first two weeks of December, compared to December 2010.

In addition, there is a 6 per cent increase in the average price, hovering around 460,000 mark this year.

The Toronto Real Estate Board’s senior manager of market analysis, Jason Mercer said, strong prices are being mitigated by very low borrowing costs.

The president of the Board, Richard Silver said it’s the second best year on record for transactions under the current geographical boundaries.

He suggests that households are taking advantage of the affordable home ownership options and the diversity in the offerings available in the GTA.
