Talks resume between union and one of three companies involved in York transit strike

TORONTO, Ont. – Another morning of delays for commuters in the York Region Monday, but there may be a glimmer of hope.

CityNews is reporting one of the three companies involved with the strike – Miller Transit – is returning to the bargaining table with the Amalgamated Transit Union.

Talks between the union and Veolia, which operates numerous bus routes in York Region, resumed Saturday but quickly fell apart.

Pickets are set up this morning as the Richmond Hill Centre, and there have been reports that striking bus drivers are actually boarding buses this morning to talk with the public about the ongoing labour dispute.

VIVA employees, along with those from Miller Transit and First Student, have been off the job since the end of October. The strike has affected more than 44,000 riders.
