Three people lose home in Ottawa fire; arson unit investigating

OTTAWA – Ottawa’s arson unit is looking into a fire that gutted a suburban bungalow last night.

Firefighters say the residents were out of town when flames broke out in the home on Scrivens Drive in the city’s south end just before 9 p.m.

Fire crews got the blaze under control by 10 p.m. but the building collapsed.

Damage is estimated to be around $500,000.

Three people lived in the home and will have to find a place to stay.
