Waterfront Toronto to hold public meeting about Port Lands Dec. 12

TORONTO, Ont. – Waterfront Toronto will hold a public meeting Dec. 12 to explain its new vision for the Port Lands — that’s the stretch of lakefront land from the Don River to Leslie Street.
The existing redevelopment plan calls for a mixed-use residential neighbourhood and lots of green space.
However, the Globe and Mail reported the agency is thinking about adopting a more commercial focus, or turning the swath of land south of Lake Shore Boulevard into a tourist destination.
Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, back the idea of building a Ferris Wheel, monorail and mega-mall.
