Occupy movement plans day of action in NYC, nationwide; officials brace for thousands

NEW YORK – About 300 people have gathered near the New York City park cleared this week of demonstrators as a protest began to mark two months of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Police with megaphones are ordering the protesters to stay on the other side of the street from Zuccotti Park. Police swept thorugh the park this week and cleared out the two-month-old encampment there.

Occupy movement organizers have said they want to march to Wall Street to mark the date. The Occupy camps have spread to cities across the U.S. but have faced increasing pressure from local authorities.
