Piers Morgan quits America’s Got Talent, Howard Stern possible replacement

CBS reported that talk show host Piers Morgan is quitting the judge’s panel on NBC’s, “America’s Got Talent.”

The 46-year-old British journalist and TV presenter, made the announcement Wednesday night on his CNN talk show, “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

Morgan says he it was difficult to juggle his busy schedule and thanked his friend Simon Cowell, the show’s creator, and congratulated his “Talent” co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. He also mentioned show host Nick Cannon.

Morgan has been judging the NBC summer-season talent show since 2006. He also was a judge on the British version of the show with Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell. The U.S. show is based on the U.K. version.

Entertainment Weekly reported that radio and TV personality Howard Stern, 57, is in talks to join Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on “America’s Got Talent.”

Morgan told viewers his lighter schedule could make him available to host the 2012 Oscars ceremony in February, now that Eddie Murphy is out.

However, it was announced on Thursday that Billy Crystal would be stepping in as the host for the 2012 Oscars, sorry Piers.
