Canucks play with passion in Windy City win

CHICAGO, IL (NEWS1130) – Vancouver blasted the Blackhawks in Chicago 6-2. The Canucks scored five of their goals with the man-advantage.

Captain Henrik Sedin led the way with a goal and three assists.

David Booth scored his first goal as a Canuck in the first period. Defenceman Aaron Rome also scored his season opening marker, early in the second period. It was Rome’s first game, after he broke a finger in the pre-season.

Daniel Sedin notched a goal and had two helpers.

Roberto Luongo stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced from the Hawks.

Vancouver leads the NHL with 19 power play goals. The five power play goals did not set a club record. The Canucks have potted a half dozen goals with the man-advantage twice in the club’s history.

Alex Burrows (back spasms) and Sami Salo (groin) did not play.

It was the first time the teams had played since the Canucks eliminated the Hawks in seven games last spring in the first round of the playoffs.

The Canucks are 2-2 on this road trip, which continues on Thursday in Los Angeles.
