Durham police investigate after needle found in Hallowe’en candy

WHITBY – Durham Regional Police are investigating after a small needle was found inside a wrapped candy.

Police say the needle was found by an 11-year-old girl on Tuesday evening after she bit into the candy.

Authorities are advising parents on Hialeah Crescent in Whitby to be extra careful when checking their kids candy.

The child was only trick or treating on Hialeah Crescent, in the Manning Road and Thickson Road North area between the hours of 6:25 and 8:15, Monday.

Police say the girl was not injured and they have seized the candy for further investigation.

The name or type of candy the needle was found in has not been released.
