Senior officer with YRP killed in collision near Uxbridge

A senior officer with York Regional Police has been killed in a two-car collision.  

Police say the collision, involving a car and a pick-up truck, happened around 3:30 p.m. at the York-Durham Line and Sandford Road near Uxbridge.

York Regional Police identified the officer as 54-year-old Superintendent Mark Grant. He had been with the force for 32-years and was off-duty at the time of the collision.

Police say a 54-year-old female passenger in the car suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital. Her condition is serious but stable.

The 76-year-old truck driver was also transported to hospital.
