Bail hearing for Garth Drabinsky to be held Friday

TORONTO, Ont. – A bail hearing is scheduled for Friday for former theatre mogul Garth Drabinsky, with reports he plans to appeal his two fraud convictions to the Supreme Court of Canada.

The Globe and Mail reported Drabinsky’s laywers will attempt to free him from the Millhaven Institution – located near Kingston – while waiting for the Supreme Court to hear his case.

Last month, Drabinsky and business partner Myron Gottlieb had their fraud convictions upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal.

It is unclear if Gottlieb is appealing to the Supreme Court, or asking for bail.
