Whitby teen admits she lied about being sexually assaulted, Durham police say

Durham police said a 16-year-old Whitby girl, who claimed she was sexually assaulted while she was eating lunch Monday afternoon, has admitted she lied.
The teen had said she was eating her lunch alone in a grassy area near a park in the Lazio Street and Samandria Avenue area, when she was dragged into a wooded area and sexually assaulted.
Police also said the investigation is now closed and inactive, and suspects are no longer being sought.
