2 glider pilots die in crash in Mount Swansea area of British Columbia

VANCOUVER – Two glider pilots are dead following a collision in the Mount Swansea area of Windermere, B.C., on Saturday.

The Mounties say they believe the gliders clipped one another’s wings, causing both to loose control and crash into the side of Mount Swansea.

That is south of Invermere, B.C.

The men, a 50-year-old from Calgary and a 59-year-old from Kelowna, were described as experienced pilots familiar with the area.

Their names have not been released.

They had reportedly departed from the Invermere airport earlier Saturday afternoon.
