Riot damaged coffee shop finally re-opens

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Blenz Coffee on Georgia and Richards in Vancouver has finally reopened, two months after the Stanley Cup riot.

The president of the coffee shop chain believes police are doing a good job, even though no one has been charged yet.

George Moen says he wants justice served but he doesn’t want those responsible rushed through the court system only to get a slap on the wrist or acquitted.

“Proper sentences should be rendered. I hope we get all of the looters. If that takes a little more time, I’m personally okay with that. I know there has been a lot of controversy around that. The police chief has a tough job. He’s made some calls. I support him through this process,” he explains.

Mohen celebrated the reopening of the outlet with music, dancing and free coffee for his customers. Blenz has also launched a lawsuit against the still-unnamed looters.
