Members of the public help stop attempted armed robbery

TORONTO, Ont. – A woman is in police custody tonight after the public assisted in her arrest after an attempted armed robbery.

Police told 680News a woman was entered a location at 2665 Jane Street with an automatic weapon.

After stealing several thousands of dollars in cash, the woman allegedly folded up her automatic weapon and put it into her purse.

As the woman attempted to leave the building, several samaritans apparently dove forward and tackled her.

Police are searching for an accomplice, who they say fled in a vehicle that is registered to the woman.
