Atwood books discounted 30 per cent with library card at Indigo

TORONTO, Ont. – Margaret Atwood’s battle against Coun. Doug Ford and his threat of cutting library services has gained some legs, and may actually be a boom for the author and a large book store chain.

Indigo is offering 30 per cent off Atwood titles across the country through July 31. The only catch is, you have to show your library card before getting the discount.

In a tweet, company officials said Indigo loves Canada’s libraries. Meanwhile, Atwood has used Twitter to promote an online petition against the possible cost-cutting closures of several library branches.

Earlier this week Ford told reporters he wouldn’t recognize who Atwood was if she was standing right next to him. The next day he clarified his comments, telling reporters he does know who Atwood is, even calling her a great writer.
