TTC continues to investigate allegations of employee urination

TORONTO, Ont. – A TTC employee who has been disciplined for using a cell phone on the job is still under investigation for allegedly urinating outside a subway station.

A customer claimed he saw the TTC employee relieving himself outside Runnymede station; however, the union for TTC employees called the claim a “complete fabrication.”

TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said the employee said he was using his cell phone, but they still have to get the other side of the story.

“The actual investigation didn’t include an interview or conversation with the customer, so that’s what we’re doing now,” Ross said.

Union boss Bob Kinnear slammed TTC chair Karen Stintz for commenting to the media on the claim before it was investigated. He said that contributes to the harassment of TTC workers.

“She gave the story veracity when it was, in fact, a lie,” Kinnear said.

But, Ross came to the chair’s defence.

“TTC chair Karen Stintz has been nothing but supportive of TTC employees, including all of our front-line employees, so any suggestion to the contrary is both unfair and unfounded,” he said.
