The 32-year-old constable died on June 28th during what appeared to be a routine traffic stop east of Newmarket.  He was pinned underneath a van allegedly driven by a 15-year-old boy.

The boy was badly injured in the accident and has been charged with first-degree murder in Styles’ death and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday.

Up to 100 police officers on motorcycles will lead the procession.  Members of the public who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to line the procession route along Yonge Street.

More than 6,000 police officers from across Canada and the U.S. are expected to attend the 90-minute funeral, which will begin at 1 p.m. Styles’ wife, Melissa, will deliver the eulogy.

His casket will be carried by six pallbearers, all police officers, and walking behind them a York Regional Police officer, Const. Styles’ close friend, who will be carrying his uniform hat.

A large screen on the southwest side of the Ray Twinney Complex will broadcast the ceremony for the overflow from the community centre, which can hold 3,100 people.
