More than 1 million people expected at Toronto’s annual Pride parade

TORONTO – The country’s largest gay rights parade will march through the streets of Toronto on Sunday.

More than 1 million people are expected at the bright and lively Pride parade, the culmination of the city’s annual Pride Week.

The parade is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will wind its way down Yonge Street to Gerrard Street.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has faced heavy criticism for saying he would skip the parade to honour a family tradition of spending Canada Day weekend at his cottage.

Ford would be the first mayor in years to miss the festival.

Barbara Hall, Mel Lastman and David Miller all attended the annual parade.
