TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have arrested four people in connection with an alleged kickback scheme that ripped off the Toronto Transit Commission.
Detectives said a paving contractor and a TTC project manager worked together on the scam that billed the transit system for nearly $200-thousand for work that should have cost only $54-thousand.
In exchange, the TTC manager received payments from the paving company.
The money was funneled into bank accounts under the names of businesses that did not exist.
The TTC employee’s wife and 21-year-old son were also charged.
