TORONTO, Ont. – It was a fan frenzy at the Air Canada Centre when the New Kids on the Block teamed up with the Backstreet Boys for their first of two concerts in Toronto, June 8.
NKOTB member Jordan Knight said both bands are thrilled to be touring together.
“We have enough hits under our belts […] there are two boy bands coming together to entertain the masses. I think people really like that.”
Knight said the shows are high energy, entertaining and fun for life-long fans and new fans alike.
“It’s going to be all about the music and all about the guys. There’s a lot of hits and there’s two groups. If one group starts getting tired on the stage, you pass it to the next group. The next group brings the energy up.”
The ACC’s “supershows” brought together a diverse group of over 14,000 fans, all screaming when the boys hit the stage.
“It feels good to see- you know, a 35-year-old mom bring a niece or a daughter […] it’s really, really cool to see such a a wide range of people come to our show.”
Mandy, a lifelong fan of NKOTB, said she first fell in love with the group back in her younger years.
“Jordan Knight was my first love. This is my eight New Kids concert since the reunion.”
Asked whether she would like to send a message or marriage proposal to Knight – Mandy joked, saying she would “ditch the diamond that I have, and take a new one from him.”
The second concert date is set for Thursday night.
