Intersection closes after sinkhole appears

TORONTO, Ont. – The intersection at Broadview Avenue and Cosburn Avenue was closed Tuesday morning because of a large sinkhole.

Toronto Transit Commission spokeswoman Jessica Martin told 680News the TTC rerouted buses after learning about the problem around 10 a.m.

The TTC then advised the city, which shut down the intersection entirely.

One woman who lives in the area told the Toronto Star, she could see the sinkhole on from her third-floor balcony

“It’s all water and pylons,” she said. “It goes almost all the way across the street, actually.”

Repairs to the street were expected to continue through the afternoon.
