Enrolment down in London public schools

LONDON, Ont. – As many as one-thousand students a year are abandoning their public high school and moving to the Catholic system in London, Ontario.

The London Free Press reports local trustees want to know why.

They have asked staff to study the numbers and report back by October.

One trustee says he has heard a lot of students simply move to the Catholic board for high school because of the location of the nearest school.

He added that they need to combat the flow now, especially with declining enrolment already having an impact on provincial funding.
