Mayor says no to tolls paying for transit extension

TORONTO, Ont. – Road tolls will not be used to pay for Mayor Rob Ford’s pricey Sheppard Avenue subway extension.

The Mayor’s director of policy told The Toronto Sun, Ford does not support road tolls on existing roads despite musings by TTC infrastructure limited President Gordon Chong.

Chong has suggested that road tolls could be one way to help cover the $4-billion cost for the transit extension.

Chong told The Toronto Star everything that can potentially generate revenues should be on the table.
