Car crashes into bus shelter; police arrest driver

TORONTO, On. -A suspected drunk driver is under arrest after an out of control car crashed through a bus shelter on Lawrence Avenue, west of Victoria Park.

Just before 6 a.m., a white BMW went over a curb, and smashed through the back of an empty Toronto Transit Commission bus shelter. The car then crashed into a traffic light pole, knocking it down.

The vehicle’s front end and the bus shelter were heavily damaged.

Police said as many as four people were inside the car, but were seen running southbound.

Officers tracked down the driver, a male in his 20’s, who is facing several charges including impaired driving.
