UPDATE 4:15 p.m. PST: News1130’s sports director Ann Schmaltz is in Chicago and reports Cory Schneider will be in goal tonight. Roberto Luongo was originally supposed to get the start in Game 6.
CHICAGO, IL. (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks are in Chicago for Game 6 of their series against the Blackhawks with a third opportunity to move on to the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
The Canucks dominated the play in the first three games, but have been invisible in the last two, allowing Chicago to climb back and give the ‘Hawks momentum leading into today’s game.
That can all change with a win by the Canucks.
The usually steady Roberto Luongo has been far from his usual self, allowing 10 goals on 40 shots while getting pulled from the net in both Games 4 and 5. Luongo will start in net this afternoon.
The Canucks penalty-kill, which tied for second overall at 85.6 per cent in the regular season, will have to be much better in Game 6. After going 0-5 on the power-play in the first two games, Chicago has scored six goals on 17 chances over the last three games which is good for 35 per cent.
The Blackhawks will have defenceman Brent Seabrook back in the line-up. Seabrook missed the last two games with an upper body injury.
Game time is 4:30 p.m.
