23-year-old woman charged in Oshawa stabbing

A 23-year-old Oshawa woman has been charged in the stabbing of a middle-aged woman from Ajax. The victim was treated and released from hospital after the violent incident.

OSHAWA, Ont. – A 23-year-old Oshawa woman has been charged with several violent offences after a 34-year-old woman was stabbed in the shoulder Tuesday night.

Police responded to Quebec Street in downtown Oshawa and found a woman suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The 34-year-old woman from Ajax was treated at a local hospital and released following the violent incident.

Durham Regional Police canvassed the neighbourhood looking for the suspect, and eventually located her on nearby Celina Street.

Kayla Johnston was arrested only an hour after the assault, and was held for a bail hearing.

She has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a probation order.
