TORONTO, Ont. – TTC union chief Bob Kinnear is accusing Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty of giving up union workers’ rights in an effort to win votes in the upcoming provincial election.
Kinnear issued a statement, which claims on the one hand the McGuinty Liberals are pushing through essential service legislation for the TTC, while on the other, province is denying a city request for more money for transit.
McGuinty said the two issues can’t be compared.
Mayor Rob Ford hopes to have the essential service bill passed before the first labour contracts at the TTC expire later this month.
