Diabetes can shorten lives: New study

A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reveals that a 50-year-old with diabetes dies six years earlier than someone without the disease.
Additionally, diabetes raises the risk of dying prematurely from several other ailments including breast cancer and pneumonia.
Researchers also say that long-term smoking shortens life by 10 years.
According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, nine million Canadians have diabetes or prediabetes.
