Orangeville nurse attacked by shark in Mexico

ORANGEVILLE, Ont. – Nicole Moore, a 38-year-old mother of two from Orangeville, was attacked by a shark on Tuesday. She told a Windsor radio station that she was on vacation in Cancun when the incident happened.

Moore was just rinsing off some sand in the shallow water when some men on personal water crafts started yelling at her and the shark attacked.

“That’s when I felt this first bump and then this bite. It had bit me right on the upper thigh of the left leg. That’s the first bite that I got. As soon as it bit, I knew what it was,” said Moore

She is now recovering in a Mexican hospital as arrangements are made for her to be transported back to Toronto.

Moore and her family are trying to stay positive about what happened by keeping a sense of humour.

“I’ve called myself sushi, someone else has called me fish food. You got to keep a sense of humour in times like this, that’s for sure,” said Moore.
